We loved Sedona

A few years ago I was able to spend a day in Sedona.  My family and I were vacationing in Pheonix and decided to drive to the Grand Canyon.  The trip to the canyon was over eight hours and we only planned to be up there for a day.  I happened to notice that Sedona was about halfway, around four hours from the Grand Canyon so we decided to stop in Sedona, spend the night and continue on our trip the next day.

Suffice it to say, we took full advantage of Sedona and really liked it there.  Liked it so much, we will be going back again. Despite it being over 100 degrees, we spent the day hiking through the red clay mountains and even went to the Airport Mesa Overlook.  It's a favorite spot for photographers.

We were able to hike in the mountains and went into the quaint and colorful town for some shopping before relaxing at our hotel pool and turning in for the night to continue our trek to the Grand Canyon the next day.

 About Sedona

Sedona is located near Flagstaff, Arizona, at the bottom of Oak Creek Canyon. It is located in an area where human existence has existed for over 10,000 years. The population was made up of hunter-gatherers who later began basic farming.

The first Spanish explorers arrived in the 16th century on a mission to find the riches of Native American mines. They did not settle at that time, and the first traces of Sedona occurred in the second half of the nineteenth century. It grew into a tiny farming and ranching community, and by 1902, it had petitioned for a post office, having roughly 20 families living there. Theodore Schnebly, who submitted the application, named it after his wife, Sedona.

The stunning red monoliths and buttes of Sedona are well-known. When you add in the town's elevation of 4,500 feet and pollution-free air, you have a photographer's dream.

What is the closest Airport?

United Airlines provides air service to and from Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, which is located in the Arizona desert. There are three flights a day from Pulliam International to Denver International Airport, leaving from the airport.

What month is the most pleasant for visiting Sedona?

In general, the best time to visit Sedona is between March and May, when the weather is warm – but not scorching – and the area is in full bloom. Hikers adore this time of year because the desert flowers add a splash of color to the rust-colored trails, making them more appealing.

Who or what is the source of the vortex in Sedona, Arizona?

There are swirling centers of energy in Sedona, which are thought to be conducive to healing, meditation, and self-exploration (although the proper grammatical form 'vortices' is rarely used). These are the locations where the earth appears to be particularly alive with energy.

Is Sedona a day trip from Phoenix?

A day trip from Phoenix to Sedona, a breathtaking desert town, is one of the best day trips you can take. In addition to being conveniently located between Phoenix and the Grand Canyon South Rim, it's also a great place to stop for the day if you're traveling from Phoenix to Flagstaff, Tusayan, or Grand Canyon Village by car.

Is it better to stay in Flagstaff or Sedona?

At an elevation of 4,000 feet, Sedona is the preferred vacation destination because it provides easy access to all of Northern Arizona's tours and attractions, which are all within a couple of hours' drive. If you compare Sedona to Flagstaff, Arizona, which is located at an elevation of 7,000 feet, Sedona has the most favorable weather conditions all year.
