The Hol Chan Marine Reserve can be found off the coast of Belize. This reserve is home to more than 200 different species of fish, some of which include nurse sharks, barracuda, stingrays, and sea turtles. Within the boundaries of the reserve are a number of excellent places to snorkel and dive, but Shark Point and Snorkel Reef are by far the most frequented. Both locations provide options for scuba diving as well as snorkeling tours.

Snorkel Reef is the place to go for first-timers who are interested in learning how to scuba dive, while Shark Point is the place to go for a variety of reef dives. Snorkel Reef is often regarded as Belize's most secure location for scuba diving, despite the fact that both dive sites are stunning in their own right.

Flying into San Pedro Airport, which is located just outside of town, is the easiest way to get to either location. You can rent a car at this location and then drive straight to the marine reserve from here. You also have the option of contacting a travel service in the area to schedule a tour for you.

Full-day excursions and multi-day journeys are the two primary kinds of tours that travelers can choose from. Typical itineraries for full-day excursions include a boat ride to the destination, followed by a stroll along the beach with a guide. Guests have the opportunity to explore the area on their own via multi-day excursions.

Full Day Trips

Pickup services are provided either at the hotel or the airport for those on full-day excursions. After you have arrived at the harbor, you will need to board a boat in order to begin your exploration of the reefs, which will take roughly three hours. It is during this time that you will most likely see wildlife such as dolphins, manatees, and other animals. At the conclusion of the excursion, you will make your way back to the port, and from there, you will be transferred back to the location where you began the journey.

Multi-Day Excursions

It is common practice for multi-day excursions to start with a pickup service from either the airport or the resort. You will meet your guide and the other members of your team at the dock as soon as you arrive at your destination. The size of your group will determine how you will break up into smaller groups, and each of those groups will explore a different section of the park.

You will not be restricted in any way in your ability to hike, kayak, swim, or snorkel wherever you choose while on your trip. You will be taken back to your beginning place once you have had your fill of fun, and from there you will be picked up and brought back to your starting position.
