Hi. My name is Todd Beechey. I’m Founder and Chief Experiences Officer here at OceanScape Yachts. And I’m not too proud to admit I’ve suffered from yacht envy.

THE STORY BEHIND OCEANSCAPE YACHTS

My love affair (ok, some may call it an obsession) with yachting began over a decade ago in the Atlantis Marina on Paradise Island.

My wife and I had been cruising the Bahamas on one of those big luxury liners--you know, the kind you share with 3000 of your closest friends--when we found ourselves wandering the Paradise Island harbor. We admired the yachts there and shared ideas about how nice it would be to sail aboard one of them. We even picked out a name for our yacht… should we ever win the lottery.

THE YACHT CHARTER CHALLENGE

Determined to make our dream vacation a reality, I started researching yacht charters. Disappointingly, I found nothing but barriers. Brokers who were only interested in selling boats and private services who were asking $200,000+ for a week-long vacation.

Nobody made it easy to book the kind of vacation we could actually afford.

It took years to plan and coordinate that first yachting trip, but...

Everything we ever dreamed of and MORE!

After much ado, we returned to the Bahamas with a handful of friends to celebrate our anniversary aboard a beautiful luxury yacht named HP4.

I’ve shared the full tale of that voyage in my book Sea the World Differently.

One highlight was the afternoon we spent lounging in two feet of crystal-blue ocean off the beach of Lone Palm Island. Secluded from the world, we whiled away the hours sipping drinks (kept always full by the attentive crew) and enjoying each other’s company.

That stop was completely spontaneous--the kind of unplanned detour only yachting makes possible--and remains one of my most cherished memories.
